A few pics from out front..

Still here in Esterillos, still enjoying the people and the weather, still surfing most days.  We've had a period of small surf, so things have been a bit slow around here.  I took a few pics the other morning at sunrise while checking the surf.  As you can see, there's not much in the way of surf.  There is, however, plenty of other stuff going on.

In my previous incarnation as an environmental attorney, rising with the sun was not exactly my trademark.    Now, however, I'm up most days by 6 and have the chance to check out what's going on in the early morning.

I'll be here in town for another month or so, then down the road into Panama.  A friend from the US is coming down next week for a visit and I'll probably have a few more pics and adventures to share from that one.  As always, more to come!!!

Starting the New Year in Costa

Things have been great here in Costa Rica.  I spent New Year's eve at a crazy party up on Canada Hill hosted by local legends Fred and Brigitte.  There's a standing tradition here in Esterillos for everybody in town who surfs to gather on the beach for a New Year's day group picture.  I woke up after a very late night just in time to down some water, grab my board, and head to the beach.  Luckily, I made it just as they were setting up for the photo.

After the photo, I grabbed a couple of mushy longboard waves, then went back home and slept until I was sufficiently recovered.  There were lot's of pictures taken on NYE, but not by me; I'll post some if I get ahold of any.

The waves have been pretty small lately and most of the surfing has taken place at some nearby beachbreaks.  I'm here for about another month, then down to Panama to check things out a bit there.  I'll also try to do better and take more pictures.  As always, more to come!!!
